This SLDO conference explores the role of evidence in health improvement for people with learning disabilities and autism. The conference will welcome speakers from Scotland, England and Wales who will talk about how they are working to address the health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities by improving the evidence base for policy and practice:

‘This free event will provide the opportunity to share learning across the 3 countries and to give people the chance to hear about plans for the new Scottish Learning Disabilities Observatory.
Jamie Hepburn, the Minister for Sport, Health Improvement and Mental Health will deliver an overview of the priorities for learning disabilities policy in Scotland. Chris Hatton, Co-director of Improving Health and Lives (the English Learning Disabilities Observtaory) will talk about the experiences of setting up the first specialist learning disabilities observatory in the UK. Mike Kerr will tell us about work to address the health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities in Wales (It’s all about the data!).’ (SLDO website).
